A Spartan Kind of Weekend

Oh man what a crazy fun weekend.  Let's see... I last blogged on Thursday, so what have I been up to since training wise..

Friday = REST day! And trust me I was going to need it.  The band had a show in Malden on Friday night so it was going to be a late night for me anyway.  I slept in.. worked from home, and actually went to my first acupuncture appointment.  It was pretty cool.  I am going for help with my sleep issues, (insomnia stinks!), but it was interesting to hear his take on other things he would like to work on. I've never believed in that kind of stuff, but maybe there is something too it.  I felt pretty good afterward, and I'll be going once a week for the next 6 weeks. Fingers crossed that it helps! Friday night was the show with WTL.. good times as always.

Saturday - Spartan day. Oooops.. that's right, I signed up for the Spartan Sprint Race at Fenway Park months ago, and kind of forgot about it. I've never done a Spartan race so I didn't really know what to expect, but I have to be honest.. I didn't want to go.  I had gotten about 3 hours sleep and I also wasn't feeling like I was in my best shape to do well.  I texted Krystina from bed to tell her I didn't want to go, but she wasn't having it haha.  Told me to at least come down to the park to watch them and then if I wanted to do it at least I would be ready to go. Turns out she was right.. I got to Fenway Park, and once I was in that race atmosphere I couldn't deny that I wanted to run it.  The race was great! Totally different then any other obstacle race I've done. It was like a long crossfit workout.  Lots of running up and down the stairs and bleachers of Fenway Park.. sandbag carries, rowing machine challenges, box jumps, ball slams.... All that good stuff.  I'm glad I decided to do it! Krystina, Woody and I rewarded ourselves with a few beers at the Yard House and then the rest of Saturday was spent napping on the couch.  Much needed :)

Sunday - Probably should have been a rest day after the Spartan Race but I've been dying to join my friend Robin for a boxing workout at her gym up in North Andover, so I dragged my ass out of bed and hit the road.  The class was awesome! It really kicked my butt, so I was glad I went.  I knew I was going to be sore after that though.  My arms and shoulders were already hurting from Spartan!

Monday - Woke up this morning feeling reeeeeeeeally stiff and sore.  Decided my best option was to swim some laps at the pool.  I was right... my body feels much better and now I'm ready to tackle the day. It's our last week at the Weston office for work... after this Friday I will be working in Cambridge at our new campus! Lots of packing to do.  Thinking about going to yoga tonight after work but we'll see how I feel. :)

Tomorrow night is the first team meeting for the MS Marathon Team.  I'm really excited and looking forward to meeting my teammates, our coach, and finally getting a look at the official training schedule. (eeek!)

154 days....
