I've never blogged before... so this is going to be a new journey for me in many ways. On November 1st, 2013 I got the news that I had been chosen to run the 2014 Boston Marathon as part of the Marathon Strides Against MS Team. This was after months and months of waiting to hear my status, so a hugely exciting day! I spent the weekend feeling extremely pleased for myself and then on Monday reality set in. What the hell had I just signed up for? 26.2 miles is a long freaking run, and while I run quite often for fun, I've never done anything more then a half marathon!
Aside from my anxiousness I really am excited for this next chapter in my life. Not only is this going to kick my ass into serious shape, but I'm also going to be raising money for a cause I am passionate about. MS is an awful disease and all too common these days. I bet you all know someone who has been affected in one way or another. I am not a brilliant scientist who is going to come up with the cure, so this is me giving back in the way that I know how.
So this blog will be part training log... part fundraising push... probably some bitching and moaning when I'm tired and achy and also a way to celebrate my little accomplishments along the way. I'm hoping it will also keep me accountable with all the training I have ahead of me! Follow along, comment... and hopefully enjoy!!
158 days.....
